Job Title: Development Associate (Part-Time)

Location: Chapel Hill, NC (Hybrid work possible)
Status: Part-time (20 hours/week, average)
Reports to: Executive Director

The Chelsea Theater is a nonprofit art house cinema committed to showcasing independent,
international, and documentary films that inspire, entertain, and provoke thoughtful dialogue.
Located in Chapel Hill, NC, the Chelsea serves as a cultural hub for film lovers in the Triangle
area, offering carefully curated films and special events that engage the community.


Position Summary
The Chelsea Theater seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented Development Associate to support the
organization’s fundraising and donor relations efforts. This part-time position plays a key role in
helping the Chelsea sustain and grow its base of individual, corporate, and foundation support.
The ideal candidate is organized, creative, and enthusiastic about independent film and
community engagement.


Key Responsibilities
+ Assist with the implementation of the Chelsea Theater’s annual fundraising strategy,
including membership, individual giving, grants, sponsorships, and special events.
+ Maintain and update donor records in the CRM database (Donor Perfect
+ Process donations and generate timely acknowledgement letters/tax receipts.
+ Support the preparation of donor communications and fundraising appeals (print and
digital), including managing mailing/email lists.
+ Support planning and execution of donor cultivation events, member appreciation
events, and fundraising campaigns.
+ Assist with donor and grant research
+ Report monthly development metrics and fundraising progress.
+ Support the Executive Director and Development Committee with administrative
logistics and materials as needed.
+ Supervise membership volunteers


Qualifications
+ At least one year of experience in fundraising, nonprofit administration, or a related
field.
+ Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
+ Experience with donor databases or CRM systems; experience with Donor Perfect a
plus.

+ Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
+ Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
+ Passion for film and appreciation for the mission of the Chelsea Theater.

Compensation
+ $20/hour
+ Flexible schedule with some evening/weekend hours required for events.
